Istanbul Airport Transfer with Kids: Child Seats, Luggage and Which Car to Book

Map of Istanbul showing IST on the European side and SAW on the Asian side
Quick answer

For a family landing at Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen, book the car in advance and request child seats: baby and booster seats cost €10 each per transfer. Give each child's age, weight and height so we bring a seat that suits their size; it is fitted before you get in. A family of four with suitcases usually needs Van Standard, from €58 per car from IST to Taksim.

Child seats

Choose the seats in the booking form and write each child's age, weight and height in the note. Up to 3 seats per transfer are available:

  • Baby seat for younger children: €10 per seat, per transfer
  • Booster seat for older children: €10 per seat, per transfer

The age shown in the booking form (1–3 for a baby seat, 3–6 for a booster) is only a rough guide. Whether a seat is right depends on the child's weight and height and on the limits printed on the seat itself, so give us those details in advance.

The seat is fitted before you get in, so you don't have to install it in the car park with tired children.

Which vehicle fits your family

FamilyVehicleSeats / suitcasesIST → Taksim, per car
2 adults, 1 child, light luggageEconomy3 / 3€42
2 adults, 2–4 children or lots of bagsVan Standard7 / 7€58
Two families travelling togetherMinibus16 / 16€89

The price is per car, not per person, so children do not add to the fare. A pushchair counts as a piece of luggage; tell us about it in the note.

Lots of luggage

Published capacities are up to 3 passengers and 3 suitcases in Economy, Standard Class and First Class; up to 7 and 7 in Van Standard; 6 and 6 in Van First Class; and 16 and 16 in the minibus. Suitcase numbers are for large suitcases; whether everything fits also depends on their size and on child seats, so mention a pushchair, a travel cot, skis or other oversized items before we confirm the booking.

If your luggage needs a bigger vehicle, we tell you the price difference first. We never put more people or bags in a car than fit safely, so for a large group with a lot of luggage two vehicles can be the better choice.

At the airport

Your driver tracks the flight and the first 60 minutes after landing are free, which helps when baggage claim with children takes longer. At IST the meeting point is Exit 13 of the arrivals hall, at the 3E sign. At SAW it is the TÜRSAB building opposite column 5. The driver helps with the bags all the way to the car.

Public transport with children

The metro from Istanbul Airport to the centre needs two or more changes with stairs, which is hard with a pushchair and suitcases. The Havaist bus has no changes but leaves you at a stop rather than your hotel. For a family, a car door to door is usually the simplest choice, and for four people it often costs about the same as separate tickets plus a taxi from the station.

Vehicle sizes, passenger limits and luggage rules are set out in our Legal & Booking Policies.

Skip the queues and the meter. A fixed-price private transfer with flight tracking and 60 minutes of free waiting.
