Planning a connection

The airports are on opposite sides of the Bosphorus. On separate tickets, leave at least 5 hours between an international arrival and an international departure, and at least 4 hours for domestic flights or hand luggage only. Add an hour if you land between 15:00 and 20:00 on a weekday. These are our planning suggestions, not airline connection times.

  • Flight type: an international arrival means passport control at IST, and an international departure means passport control again at SAW; domestic flights skip both.
  • Separate tickets: you collect your bags, leave the airport and check in again within the second airline's check-in deadline.
  • Bags: waiting at the baggage belt adds time; with hand luggage only you leave the terminal sooner.
  • Traffic: about 80 minutes outside rush hour, up to 2 hours or more on weekday evenings.

We track your arriving flight and the first 60 minutes after landing are free, but no transfer can guarantee that you catch a connecting flight: passport queues, baggage delivery and traffic are outside anyone's control.

Other ways to change airports

The Havaist HVL-10 bus runs directly between IST and SAW for 530 TL per person (tariff from 20 July 2026) and can take around 2 hours, but it does not wait for a delayed flight. A metered taxi costs roughly 3,800–4,100 TL plus tolls (our estimate). More detail: Transfer between IST and SAW.

Meeting your driver

At IST: walk out through Exit 13; our team waits at the 3E sign with your name.

At SAW: go to the TÜRSAB building opposite column 5 and tell reception you are here for 3E.

We track your arriving flight, and the first 60 minutes after landing are free.

What the price includes and what costs extra

  • Meet and greet with a name sign, and help with your luggage
  • Flight tracking: a delay costs nothing extra
  • 60 minutes of free waiting from the actual landing time (20 minutes at hotel and address pickups)
  • Motorway, bridge and tunnel tolls, airport parking and VAT

At extra cost

  • Baby or booster seat: €10 per seat, per transfer (tell us the child's age, weight and height)
  • Extra stop on the route: €20
  • Waiting beyond the free time, only when agreed: per 15 minutes, from €5 (Economy) to €40 (First Class)
  • Return transfer booked together: 10% off the return leg

Payment: cash to the driver at the end of the ride in EUR, TRY or USD; companies can pay by invoice. Full terms: Legal & Booking Policies.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a transfer from IST to SAW?

From €67 per car in Economy and €95 in a Van Standard. Peak-hour pricing (+30%) applies to pickups at IST between 15:00 and 19:00 and at SAW between 14:45 and 21:00.

How long does it take to get from IST to SAW?

About 80 minutes outside rush hour and up to 2 hours or more on weekday evenings.

How much time do I need between flights?

We suggest at least 5 hours for an international to international connection on separate tickets, and at least 4 hours for domestic flights or hand luggage only. No transfer can guarantee a connection, so leave more if your first flight is often late.
