Galataport Istanbul Cruise Terminal: Getting There from the Airports (2026)
Galataport, Istanbul's cruise terminal, is on the Bosphorus waterfront in Karaköy on the European side. It is about 45 km and 50 minutes by road from Istanbul Airport (IST) and about 48 km from Sabiha Gökçen (SAW). A private transfer costs from €44 per car from IST and from €46 from SAW.
Where the terminal is
Galataport sits on the waterfront in Karaköy, between the Galata Bridge and Tophane, in the historic centre on the European side. Taksim, Galata and the Old City around Sultanahmet are all a short drive away, which makes it easy to spend a night in a hotel before or after the cruise.

Prices are fixed when you book and include tolls, parking and meet & greet. Pickups at IST between 15:00 and 19:00 and at SAW between 14:45 and 21:00 cost 30% more. SAW is on the Asian side, so that route crosses the Bosphorus; allow extra time on weekday evenings.
Planning around embarkation and disembarkation
- Before the cruise: if you fly in on embarkation day, leave a generous buffer for passport control, baggage claim and traffic. Many travellers arrive the day before and stay in Karaköy, Taksim or Sultanahmet.
- After the cruise: when booking the port-to-airport transfer, give us your ship's name and the time you expect to leave the ship, and the departure time of your flight.
- Luggage: cruise passengers usually carry more. Van Standard takes up to 7 passengers and 7 suitcases; the minibus seats up to 16 for groups.
Meeting your driver at the port
The airport meeting points (Exit 13 at IST, the TÜRSAB building at SAW) do not apply at the port. For a pickup at Galataport, the meeting details are in your booking confirmation, and your driver's name and phone number reach you the day before. Keep your phone on when you leave the ship, and tell us the time you expect to disembark so the pickup time fits.
Journey times depend on Istanbul traffic and are estimates, not guarantees. For a flight on disembarkation day, leave plenty of time for leaving the ship, the drive and airport check-in.
